The Houston Symphony announced the appointment of Chief Financial Officer Elizabeth Condic as interim chief executive, temporarily replacing CEO John Mangum as he joins Lyric Opera of Chicago in September as its next general director, president, and CEO.

Condic joined the Houston Symphony in 2017, and since then she has helped the organization successfully navigate the COVID-19 shutdown and Hurricane Harvey. In addition to her executive duties as interim CEO, she will work with the Houston Symphony board, staff, musicians, and an outside executive search firm to find a permanent replacement for the CEO position.

Condic is a Houston native who has spent much of her career working in the nonprofit sector. Prior to joining the Houston Symphony, she was vice president for finance and CFO at the University of St. Thomas and the University of Mary.
