The Gstaad Menuhin Festival in Switzerland announced violinist Daniel Hope has been appointed Intendant & Artistic Director of the Festival & Academy beginning in November 2025. Hope has a longstanding connection to the festival and founder Yehudi Menuhin, including Hope’s official debut as a concert soloist in 1992. He succeeds Christoph Müller, who led the festival for 24 years.

Why it matters:

  • Global reputation: Daniel Hope’s international stature and innovative vision will enhance the festival’s global reputation and artistic diversity.
  • Deep root and new ideas: Hope’s appointment strengthens the festival’s ties to its historical roots, ensuring continuity while also promising fresh, interdisciplinary programming that will attract new audiences.
