The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) seized a piano and arrested four suspects after 63 kilograms of cocaine were found inside the curiously silent instrument.
First discovered by US customs officers on July 2, the piano was allowed to enter Canada and tracked to St-Félix-de-Valois, Quebec, about 75 kilometers northeast of Montréal, where the arrests were made. The inside of the piano was packed with 67 packages of white powder, which initial tests revealed to be cocaine. RCMP officials also seized $10,000 in cash and electronic devices.
The cocaine is estimated to be worth approximately $5.3 million at the typical Canadian street price of $85 per gram.
