A biopic about Leonard Bernstein was nominated for multiple Academy Awards, and a forthcoming biopic about Antonio Vivaldi is already getting buzz — so why not bring another composer to the silver screen?
Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins is set to star as George Frideric Handel in “The King of Covent Garden,” a film about the composer’s creation of his masterpiece “Messiah.” Directed by Andrew Levitas and written by Tim Slover, the film aims to celebrate Handel’s genius and the creation of “Messiah” as a symbol of human connectivity and spiritual uplift.
“The King of Covent Garden” is scheduled for a late fall 2025 release.
